Tomorrow is our test. I handed out a review sheet yesterday and told all my classes that if they completed they could use it on the test. They are having some time to work on that review in class today. Here are the questions that I put on the review.

7. Know about the election of 1796. Who won and how that affected the nation.
8. Explain the Alien and Sedition Acts.
9. Describe Hamilton’s financial plan.
10. What are 2 challenges that Washington faced during the beginning of his presidency.
11. Describe how Washington dealt with the conflicts in the Northwest Territory.

Dec. 19, 2011

Today we started our review for the test that will be on Wednesday the 21st. Students were to work on the chapter review found on page 304. They need to answer the questions 1-9.  I also handed out a review that if they finish they can use on the test. I will not go over that one because I want to see if the students can find the information for themselves. We will review tomorrow. I have not decided on if we are going to play a game to review or not, but after class tomorrow they should be ready for the test.

Also if there are any grammatical errors in my post of the papers that I type up for the students I want to apologize now. I'm not the best when it comes to typing. I just ask you to bear with me.

I was afraid that this would happen. I would forget for a couple of days and then have to come back and write more. First off, for the past couple of days we have worked on our political campaign poster and Section 3 of Chapter 8. The presentations of the posters went really well and the kids did a great job.  Today we finished up Section 3 and I had them answer the following writing assignment.

2. The writing assignment

       Jefferson stated that, “in a fight by oppressed people to win freedom, some injustices were to be expected.” In 1-2 paragraphs I would like you to answer the following question. This is a opinion so you are not going to be wrong but I would like you also to be honest with yourself and me. The question is this “Is it right to cause harm to someone else if you feel that you are fighting for a just cause and how do you know if it is a just cause or not?”

I really wanted to try to make the students think about what they believe.

Sorry, that I did not get a chance to write what we did on Friday. On Friday, we looked at the chart on the bottom of page 291, and students were making a comparison chart by making drawings that compared 3 of the points that were made.

Today, we finished that up and we started the political campaign poster project. These are the directions that I gave them.

You are going to create a poster to persuade others to join your party, either the Republicans or Federalists. You will need to state why we should join your party in about 2 paragraphs. You will also need to come up with a slogan that will draw people in so that they will want to read your poster. In your paragraph you will need to have the advantages that I will get or can have by joining your party – Republicans or Federalist. You should also have at least 3 pictures representing the best ideas of your party. You can work with one other person on this assignment and it will be worth 20 points.

Today we finished talking about Section 1 when Washington first took office. We took the quiz over Section 1 and started to look at Section 2. We listened to the reading of Section 2 so I can tell you they at least heard the section. I know that most followed along with the reading also. I handed out the note taking study guide for Section 2. It is not home work because they will have time at the beginning of the hour tomorrow to finish it up.

We are also going to be starting a project tomorrow that deals with political parties.

Since I was not there on Monday we went over section 1 as a class. We went over the note taking study guide also so that they had the correct answer. There will also be a quiz tomorrow over section 1.

Today we did the Voc. for chapter 8. Read section 1 of that chapter and did questions 1-4 at the end of the section. I'm sorry that I was not at school today. I was not feeling the best. I will make sure that I answer any questions tomorrow in class.
