Sorry, that it has been a while since I have posted. Right now we are finishing up the map of the 13 colonies that we started yesterday. I will also be handing out today their chapter writing assignment. The rubric tells how many sentences that each topic needs. The writing assignment will be due on Friday. Another in class will be proof reading it on Thursday. Also tomorrow I will be giving them their review for the test that they will be having on Monday. We will go over it on Friday so that they will have it for the weekend to study from. The review is pasted below.

2. Begin to read section 1 of chapter 3 starting on page 66. Answer the questions on the note taking study guide. Answer questions 1-5 on page 70. You only need to write down the response not the question.

8th Graders – Test Corrections
            * First, if you received a D+ or lower you will be retaking the test. If you received higher than that you will have a choice to retake or not. The test will be when we come back from break and it will be an open book test. As such it will be somewhat harder because you will be using your book on it.
            * Test corrections will be done by everyone and they can be used on your test if you have to retake it. This is how I want them done:
                        1. Write down question
                        2. Write down correct answer
                        3. Write down the page from the book that gives you the information about the answer
                        4. Parents Signature
            * If you complete that during your class time you will begin the vocabulary for the new chapter that can be found on page 443.

8th graders- Have a test tomorrow. We went over the review today, and they can not use it on their test. I will also answer any questions before the test that students may have.

7th graders- we started working on a map that deals with the different minerals that are found in Africa. They should complete it as homework if not done.

We have spent the last couple of days watching a move about the "Trail of Tears." This is their assignment that does along with it.


The “Trail of Tears” Project/Writing Assignment

In this project/writing assignment you are going to act as if you were a member of Congress in 1830 during the debate over the proposed Indian Removal Act. You will create a speech, consisting of 3 paragraphs (4 sentences each), which you would have given on the floor of the House concerning this piece of legislation. In your speech you will either say that you were for the removal of Indians to the west or against it. Use examples from the movie to help support your case.
You will first fill out the Decision-Making Scenario chart. When that is done you will show it to me to get it checked off. Once it is checked off you can go ahead and write your speech.

Once you have your speech written you will also make a copy of the map found on page 356. Make sure that your map looks identical to that one. Paper will be provided for you to make that map.

This will be due on Friday Feb. 10. You will have some class time to work on it each day until then, but you will not have all hour each day to work on it.

I think that I am losing my mind. With wrestling going on now, and my wife being pregnant things in my life are just going crazy. We have finished chapter 9 now, and we have the test tomorrow. We are going over the review sheet today that was handed out on Friday. They are also to complete the chapter review found on page 334 questions 1-11. Today we took a quiz over Section 1, we spent the last 2 days on it. We went over the answers as a class so that each student should have the correct answers. We also started looking at Section 2 that starts on page 314. We got into groups and wrote 3 facts per red heading. That means that they wrote a total of 9 facts. We will start our writing assignment tomorrow. I will post the details for that tomorrow.
