We have spent the last couple of days watching a move about the "Trail of Tears." This is their assignment that does along with it.

The “Trail of Tears” Project/Writing Assignment

In this project/writing assignment you are going to act as if you were a member of Congress in 1830 during the debate over the proposed Indian Removal Act. You will create a speech, consisting of 3 paragraphs (4 sentences each), which you would have given on the floor of the House concerning this piece of legislation. In your speech you will either say that you were for the removal of Indians to the west or against it. Use examples from the movie to help support your case.
You will first fill out the Decision-Making Scenario chart. When that is done you will show it to me to get it checked off. Once it is checked off you can go ahead and write your speech.

Once you have your speech written you will also make a copy of the map found on page 356. Make sure that your map looks identical to that one. Paper will be provided for you to make that map.

This will be due on Friday Feb. 10. You will have some class time to work on it each day until then, but you will not have all hour each day to work on it.
